Gaven founded the Northerner Hockey Camp in 2021 and has grown it steadily every year since. He brings extensive experience as both a coach and general manager in the USHL and NAHL, having worked with the Minnesota Magicians (NAHL), Colorado Grit (NAHL), Madison Capitols (USHL), and Des Moines Buccaneers (USHL).

A native of Crosslake, MN, Gaven brings energy and passion to the rink every day. Whether coaching a Northern Knights team in a tournament or leading an ice session at the Northerner Hockey Camp, he is dedicated to teaching, encouraging, and inspiring youth hockey players across the Midwest. He takes pride in creating an environment where players not only develop their skills but also leave the rink with a smile. Gaven lives by the motto: “If you love the game, it will love you back.”

Gaven grew up playing for the Northern Lakes Lightning before continuing his playing career at Siena College (ACHA). Today, he also gives back to his community by coaching and evaluating for the Brainerd Amateur Hockey Association.

Program Director & Coach

Coach Marko Reifenberger is entering his sixth year with our camp, bringing a wealth of hockey knowledge, leadership, and passion for player development. Currently playing professional hockey with the Norfolk Admirals in the ECHL, Marko continues to build on an impressive career both on and off the ice.

A former NCAA Division I athlete at Mercyhurst University, Marko excelled academically—earning a degree in Economics—and athletically, serving as team captain. His calm demeanor, strong leadership, and professional experience make him a valuable part of our coaching staff.

As a Program Director, Marko is committed to creating a positive, high-energy environment where every camper can grow, improve, and enjoy the game. His dedication to excellence ensures each player leaves camp with new skills, confidence, and a love for hockey that lasts beyond the rink.

Owner

Emily has coached for various associations and programs across the midwest and now works in Commercial Real Estate. In the hockey world, she has gained a real following with players of all ages and skill as a skill development coach.

Formally, she was the Head Coach for Gentry Academy and MAP South high school tier director. She has worked for Minneapolis and Blaine youth hockey associations as both a coach and girls hockey coordinator + mentor.  

Growing up in Crosslake, MN she played youth and high school hockey for the Northern Lakes Lighting, before transferring to a hockey prep school in Stowe, VT (NAHA- North American Hockey Academy). From there she would go on to play D1 hockey and D3 golf for Union College (ECAC) in Schenectady, NY.
